Automated Plasma Cutting Systems
Plasma cutting is a widely used process in metal fabrication for cutting and preparing parts to be used in weldments. Many things are made using the process, such as pressure vessels, ships, and structural fabrications. High definition plasma allows manufacturers to reduce or eliminate the after-cut grinding that is usually required from a cutting process and adds unnecessary danger, labor, and cost to projects.
MESH Automation, Inc. combines high definition plasma cutting with the accuracy, flexibility, and speed of a robot. These robotic plasma cutting solutions are ideal for manufacturers that require heavy-duty, flexible, and fast cutting. Additionally, MESH can pair a robotic plasma cutting solution with automatic part loading and flexible fixturing to dramatically increase productivity. MESH can also pair the solution with a different robotic process, such as robotic grinding or robotic welding to finish the manufacturing process.
The MACStud2d (Gantry format for automated stud welding) is a professional-grade, pre-engineered, gantry-based flexible automation cell.
The MACArc (MESH Automation Cell for arc welding) is a professional-grade, pre-engineered, robotics-based flexible automation cell.
The MACControl is a highly functional and flexible robot cell controller with standard features and component specifications that rival today’s best industrial control systems.

MESH Solutions for Plasma Cutting
MESH can provide automated solutions for plasma cutting on flat plate, structural members, or even curved surfaces, such as the side of a tank. Many of MESH’s solutions are used to cut bevels for welding, and with high-definition plasma, adding a land to a bevel is even possible.
Additionally, the process can be used to cut through changing material thicknesses, from sheet metal to 3.5in thick material on the fly, and can even cut aluminum. MESH has produced equipment that uses sensors to measure and map curvature in raw material, track and cut material that is moving on a conveyor and even trim excess dross from an earlier oxy-fuel process.
MESH solutions often include a variety of pre-engineered modules such as robotic transfer units and fully enclosed cells. MESH’s fully enclosed cell, also called a MAC cell, can support the full weight of a fume hood and trap and contain all smoke and dross from the cutting process, maintaining your operator’s safety and good air quality in your plant.
